The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has promised to support members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s local council elections in Abuja.

Wike spoke at a campaign rally in Apo, Abuja, on Thursday. He asked people to vote for the APC candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.

He told voters not to support any candidate who would disagree with him. Wike said he wants a chairman who can work closely with him for the good of the people.

The minister promised that if residents vote for the APC candidate, he will also support them and bring development to the area. His comments have raised concerns about possible plans to rig the election.

“I came here to tell you, if you do for me, I’ll do for you. If you love me, I’ll love you. Do your part on Saturday and leave the rest to me,” Wike said. He added that he is someone who keeps his promises.

Wike also said voters should choose someone who can work well with him. “Don’t vote for someone who will go in a different direction when we are trying to move forward,” he said.

Residents of the FCT will vote on Saturday to elect six Area Council Chairmen in Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali, as well as councillors for 62 wards.
