Lucy Ugwu, the online publisher of NN News Media and known publicly as Nkiruka Nistoran, has urged the Igbo community to remain cautious about recent statements made by Sahara Reporters’ publisher, Omoyele Sowore.
Nistoran claims Sowore is misleading Nigerians with divisive narratives targeting the Igbo.
On the “Honest Bunch” podcast, Sowore alleged the existence of a government memo advising against allowing Igbos significant roles in Nigerian leadership. He stated that, for Igbos to thrive fully, “Nigeria must break.”
However, Nistoran refuted this, accusing Sowore of advancing an agenda on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, attempting to exploit Igbo concerns for political gains.
Nistoran argued that past administrations under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were ethnically balanced in their appointments, contrasting with recent governments under Mohammadu Buhari and Tinubu.
She contends that the lack of Igbo representation in these administrations is not due to any official policy but rather to the personal biases of recent leaders.
“This is how they misled IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, spreading false information to him that Buhari was dead to position Tinubu for power,” Nistoran stated.
“Now they’re trying a similar tactic, hoping the Igbo will back a futile ‘revolution’ to keep Tinubu in power for eight years. Don’t be fooled; we see through their game.”
NN News Media recalls that Nistoran previously warned against trusting Sowore, asserting he is following a script that does not align with the interests of Ndi-Igbo.
She further pointed out that the Igbo community has only recently begun showing strong interest in Nigerian politics, urging them to remain vigilant against manipulation.
