Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has debunked rumours making the round that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, may be picking him as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku has been touted to be looking the way of Anambra State governor and his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike as his running mate since after winning the candidacy of the PDP last week.

Reacting to the rumour, the Press Secretary to the governor, Christian Aburime, denied that such move was in the offing.

He said his principal has a social contract with Anambra people, saying that he is so passionate about serving Anambra people.

“I am not aware of such moves. I think it is just one of those political permutations that people make most times.

“Oga is the governor of Anambra and I believe he wants to focus and work hard, so that the promises he made to Anambra people, he is able to fulfill them.

“I think he has a social contract with Anambra people and he is so much passionate about serving Anambra people and he has said it many times that he will rather prefer to serve his people first and foremost, before anything else.

“For now, those things are in the realm of rumours. I’m not aware of such moves by His Excellency,” Aburime stated.
