Politicians alongside major political parties have been told not to underrate the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for not having structure as the people, the electorate are his structure.

The party House of Representatives candidate for Ankpa , Olamaboro, Omala Federal Constituency, Chief Peter Ameh started this on Monday at a Media Parley organized for National Assembly candidates in Lokoja by the Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Chief Ameh who noted that contrary to the belief of politicians on the platform of other parties that the LP lacked the needed structures to win the presidential election said that the party rally across the country has proved them wrong.

He said his party has produced a governor at one time and numerous National Assembly members and fielded candidates in various positions across the states would be a party to beat in the 2023 general elections.

He explained that the so-called structures are the members of the party that are willing to stand with the party at all times that are being constantly serviced by the party machinery.

He added that with the turn out of the people who are the actual voters for the Labour party rallies across major cities portend new dawn for Nigerians that are ready to take their destinies into their hands.

” With the determination of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a credible election using technology, the people who are the structure of Labour party would shock them. We are confident that Obi and LP will win.

Ameh also promised to create viable and effective Constituency offices, where he would interact with his people, collate their demands and know their problems to find lasting solutions to them among other efforts if elected.

The candidate called on the state legislators to factor activism into their oversight function to walk into ecological funds and places responsible for these floods and work there up to four times” to get to the root of the matter for a lasting solution.

According to him, the problem with the legislators is that they feel that if they do that, they will offend somebody because they belong to the same party.

“So they are waiting for when God will put in the mind of the Executive to come and do it,” he explained.

He urged the government at all levels to see the current devastating effect of floods ravaging some states in the country as a clarion call to build more dams to absorb water from the Lagdo dam in Cameron and elsewhere, for agricultural activities and boost food security. (Daily Independent)
