In continuation of his nationwide consultation with critical stakeholders, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday night met with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.

The former governor of Lagos State was accompanied by his running mate, Kassim Shetimma and five APC governors.

The brief meeting which was held at the residence of former President Jonathan gave the leaders the opportunity to discuss various national issues and the forthcoming general election.

Although details of their meeting were not made public, Asiwaju had while leaving the meeting simply said, he paid a courtesy visit on the former President as one of the critical stakeholders in the Nigerian project.

He further noted that he told him of his presidential ambition and seek the support of his host.

Those on the entourage of Tinubu include his running mate, Shetimma, governor of Plateau State and director-general campaign council, Simon Lalong, Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, Zamfara State governor. Bello Matawale, Jigawa State governor, Abubakar Badaru and their Kwara State counterpart AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The meeting, according sources was part of efforts by the APC candidate to win the his favour and all critical stakeholders to key into his presidential ambition.

“Truly, he (Jonathan) is at home with us. He was very receptive. You know the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer accorded him that respect.

“He is more comfortable with us. He was happy that Asiwaju visited him. He is at home with his aspirations.”

Tinubu had a similar meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta recently.
