Former Kaduna State Governor and prominent opposition figure, Nasir El-Rufai, has urged Nigerians to unite in a concerted effort to remove the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a series of grassroots engagement meetings with political stakeholders, youth groups, and women in Sokoto State on Saturday, El-Rufai warned that another APC term would endanger Nigeria’s future.

“We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history, and it’s imperative we act together to rescue Nigeria from poor governance and failed leadership,” he said.

In a blunt critique of the ruling party, El-Rufai described the APC as “incompetent and clannish,” stating that its continued rule could irreparably damage Nigeria’s unity and development.

“If we allow this APC government another term, what remains of Nigeria’s social fabric may be destroyed. This is the fight of our lives,” he declared.

El-Rufai emphasized that his move to the opposition was not motivated by personal gain but by a deep commitment to national service.

“I didn’t get into politics to enrich myself but to serve. And when a government ceases to serve the people, it becomes my duty as a senior citizen to speak out and act to change the direction of the country,” he stated.

He also announced the opposition coalition’s adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform ahead of 2027, presenting it as a unified and credible alternative to the APC.

Abubakar Gada, a key coalition figure in Sokoto, echoed El-Rufai’s sentiments and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to delivering competent and transparent governance at both state and national levels.
