The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recommenced the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Nigeria, signaling the start of the second phase of the programme.

Naija News reports that the new phase officially began on Monday, following the conclusion of the first phase on December 10, 2025.

The initial phase commenced with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, before physical registration began nationwide on August 25 at designated centres.

According to INEC, a total of 9,891,801 Nigerians initiated the registration process online during the first phase. Out of this figure, 2,572,054 applicants successfully completed their registration as of November 28, 2025.

The breakdown shows that 1,503,832 registrations were completed online, while 1,068,222 were finalized through physical enrolment.

INEC explained that the interval between the two phases was used to carry out statutory activities, including the display of the voters’ register at local government offices to allow for corrections, objections, and claims.

The commission urged eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of the reopened exercise to enroll, transfer their polling units, or update personal information.

Registered voters were also advised to verify their details and promptly report any errors or irregularities.

However, the CVR exercise remains suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing election-related activities. INEC noted that new registration dates for both locations will be announced in due course.
