National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged Nigerians to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning against the use of public resources for luxury while citizens face economic hardship.

Obi made the call in a message shared on social media, linking the choice of political leaders to the management of taxpayers’ money and the future of the country.

“Kick out APC with your votes so Dayo won’t buy planes with your money,” the message stated.

The statement has drawn attention to public spending, political privileges and accountability as Nigeria moves towards the 2027 general elections.

Obi’s message focused on the power of voters to hold political leaders accountable and demand responsible management of public resources.

His remarks also highlighted concerns over the priorities of political leaders at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with rising living costs and financial pressure.

The reference to Dayo was linked to the seven Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs reportedly presented by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Dayo Israel and other APC youth leaders. Obi’s remark about buying planes appeared to draw a comparison between spending on political privileges and the need to use public resources responsibly amid the economic challenges facing Nigerians.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum, public spending, economic hardship and accountability are expected to remain important issues in the national debate.

Obi ended his message with a reminder of the role citizens play in shaping the country’s future through their votes.
