A top northern politician has come out strongly against President Bola Tinubu saying the whole region has made up its mind to reject him in the next election.

Hon Idris Kalgo who serves as National Secretary of the Northern Progressive Agenda spoke clearly on Trust TV. He said people in the North feel the president does not care about their problems especially the constant killings and insecurity.

Kalgo pointed out that many people die every day in the North yet Tinubu did not visit Borno after a fresh attack there just days earlier. Instead the president left the country for a visit to the United Kingdom. He asked openly whether Tinubu believes the lives of northerners do not matter or whether Nigeria cannot handle its own affairs without running to other countries.

The politician reminded viewers that years ago when Goodluck Jonathan was president and there was a bomb blast in Nyanya Tinubu himself criticized Jonathan harshly for not visiting the scene because he was busy campaigning. Now the same Tinubu faces similar accusations for traveling abroad right after violence in Borno without taking strong visible action on the ground.

Kalgo made it clear that this pattern has convinced many in the North that Tinubu is not the leader they need. He declared that the North has decided there will be no second term for this president. All governors and big politicians from the region will come together before the election to make sure Tinubu does not return to power.

The interview has sparked fresh talks about growing anger in the North over insecurity and the feeling that the federal government pays less attention to their pains. Many see the UK trip as proof that the president puts foreign trips ahead of comforting victims at home.
