The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Election, Mr. Peter Obi, has emphasized that the primary concern for all Nigerians, irrespective of class or political status, should be the survival of the country amidst the current economic hardships, rather than focusing on the next elections.

Addressing a large gathering of party supporters during a solidarity visit organized by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter to the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, Obi highlighted the urgent need to prioritize citizens’ welfare and security.

He pointed out that many politicians are quick to discuss upcoming elections as soon as one electoral cycle concludes, often neglecting the critical issues of citizens’ welfare and security. “Political parties exist only because Nigeria exists,” Obi stated, emphasizing the necessity for collective efforts to ensure the country’s survival. “Nigeria is the only country we have.”
