Governors elected under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have boldly declared their intent to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The governors criticized the APC for mismanaging the country, resulting in widespread economic hardship for Nigerians.
Speaking at a Gala Night in Jalingo, Taraba State, hosted by Governor Agbu Kefas, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, expressed the party’s resolve to restore economic stability and security once back in power.
Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed the PDP’s readiness to tackle the nation’s challenges, recalling the party’s legacy before its defeat in 2015. He lamented that the APC’s governance had eroded the progress PDP achieved over 16 years in power. He called on his fellow governors to share in the party’s vision for a better Nigeria and urged them to work towards regaining the trust of the citizens.
Bala Mohammed stressed the importance of unity within the PDP and emphasized that the party’s plans are designed to address the economic and security challenges currently plaguing the country. According to him, the APC’s failures have destabilized the nation, and it is the PDP’s responsibility to restore hope and stability.
The event provided a platform for PDP governors to reaffirm their commitment to the progress of Nigeria while also addressing internal party matters. Governor Mohammed concluded by underscoring the party’s position as Nigeria’s largest political entity and its potential to once again elevate the nation on the African stage.
