A young man, Dada Opeyemi Adesonye, 24, has reportedly taken his own life in the Afami area of Imasayi, located in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, Adesonye was discovered hanging from a tree by an employee of Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese, who alerted the authorities around 8:10 am. The suspected suicide was officially reported by the Divisional Police Officer at 8:27 am.

Upon arriving at the scene along Dangote-Afami Road, law enforcement found no signs of violence on the body. Items recovered from Adesonye’s pockets included a payment card, a key holder, an earbud, and N2,000.

The body has since been released to the family for burial. Odutola emphasized the increasing concern over youth suicides and urged families to be attentive to their loved ones during these troubling times.

She added, “Please remain calm and vigilant as further updates will be provided. We implore families to keep a close watch on their loved ones amid the alarming rise in youth suicides.”
