Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, expressed his deep shock over the tragic demise of the dynamic Nollywood actor, Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, better known as Junior Pope.

This unfortunate event has once again cast a shadow of grief over our entertainment industry and our nation.

Junior Pope was celebrated for his lively performances, often infused with humor, that both entertained and enlightened audiences. His roles in films and comedy sketches brought joy to many.

The passing of Junior Pope marks a significant loss for the entertainment industry, a sector that has recently emerged as a key contributor to our society and economy. The thought of the sorrow and distress experienced by the bereaved families is profoundly heartbreaking.

The death of a young individual with such a promising future is particularly devastating. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and to the families of others who tragically lost their lives in the same boat accident.

I also express my sympathy to the Actors Guild of Nigeria and the entire entertainment industry. May God grant us all the strength to endure this irreplaceable loss and may the departed souls rest in peace.
