As the 2023 presidential election is gathering momentum, politicians from all fronts have been making declarations and indicating political interests to occupy the number position in the country.

In the South east region, the likes of Senator Anyim Puis Anyim, Governor Dave Umahi, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu among others have openly declared interest to run for the presidential race.

Meanwhile, the former governor of Anambra state Mr. Peter Obi partially declared interest to run for the position if the People’s Democratic Party zones the position to southern Nigeria. He said this in a statement posted on his official twitter handle.

However, the Anambra PDP Expanded State ExCo has thrown its support behind Peter Obi’s run for the Nigerian president.

In a statement released by Mr. Osaleka Obase a former gubernatorial aspirant of Anambra state said, “Anambra PDP Expanded State ExCo endorse Peter Obi’s run for the Nigerian presidency. Undertake to procure his nomination form. The tides are turning.

However, the event was graced by the PDP governorship aspirant in the just concluded Anambra governorship elections Mr. Valentine Ozigbo and the serving senator Uche Ekwunife representing Anambra central in the Upper chamber of the Nigeria National Assembly.
