Some Nigerians has demanded an investigation into an alleged custom seized cars distributed to Kebbi delegates by the Nigerian Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Malami was accused of distributing of 60 Toyota Prado SUVs, 65 Toyota RAV4 SUVs, 35 Mercedes Benz GLK 350 SUVs and 40 Lexus LX SUVs to APC Kebbi delegates, to get Kebbi governorship ticket ahead of 2023 general election is generating outrage as Nigerians demanded an investigation over the allegation.

However, a source disclosed to NN NEWS that Malami had shared 200 Mercedes and Toyota SUVs, seized custom cars to Kebbi delegates to support his governorship race.

The politician, who sought anonymity because of his closeness to Mr Malami’s campaign, said more vehicles were expected from Lagos to be distributed to politicians across the state before and after the primaries.

The AGF actively pursuing his political ambition alongside his ministerial appointment has stirred controversy and raised questions about his eligibility to run.

But the Attorney General in chief, in an interactive session with journalists on Tuesday, said it was his foundations that shared 200 Mercedes and Toyota SUVs to long-term workers of the NGOs and not officials of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi.

He said that the cars were distributed by Khadi Malami and Khadimiyya for Justice and Development Initiative, non-governmental organizations he had been “associated with” over the years.

Malami decried of attacks on him, saying, “At this moment, I have experienced a barrage of attacks, left, right and centre, some are local and others international, an attack that has to do with an allegation that I shared many expensive vehicles to delegates of APC,” he told journalists.

Meanwhile, Nigerians said that investigation should be carried out, warned that ignoring such allegation may spell doom to APC led government.

They said the seized cars belong to innocent Nigerians looking for their daily bread and was forceful taken by custom.
