Zamfara Government has suspended Aliyu Marafa, the Emir of Yandoton Daji in Tsafe Local Government of the State for conferring chieftaincy title on a wanted notorious bandit kingpin, Ado Aleru.

Ado Aleru is alleged to be the leader of deadly bandit group terrorizing many communities in Katsina and Zamfara States.
He was declared wanted by the Katsina Police Command in 2019 with a bounty of N5m placed on his head.
The Emirate Council said the traditional title was conferred on Aleru to ensure peace returns to their and that it was done with the approval of the state and local governments, Premium Times quoted an official of the Emirate as saying.
But in a statement by Kabiru Balarabe, Zamfara state government said the coronation of Aleru a was without its approval.
Consequently, the Zamfara government announced the suspension of the Emir, while also setting up a Committee to investigate the circumstances leading to his action.
The state government also approved Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, who is the District Head of ‘Yandoto is to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate.

This is to inform the general public the Zamfara State Government has dissociated itself from the alleged turbaning of a Sarkin Fulani by the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area. In this regard, the State Executive Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON (Shattiman Sokoto) has directed for suspension of the Emir with immediate effect.
2. Accordingly, the Executive Governor has approved the appointment of a Committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the action of the Emir. The composition of the Committee is as follows:
a) Hon. Yahaya Chado Gora = Chairman
b) Hon. Yahaya Mohd Kanoma = Member
c) Hon. Muhd Umar B/Magaji = ”
d) Hon. Lawal Abubakar Zannah = ”
e) Isa Muhd Moriki (Rtd P/Sec) = ”
f) Bar. Musa Garba
SG/PSec. MOJ = Secretary
3. In the meantime, Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, who is the District Head of ‘Yandoto is hereby assigned to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate.
