The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has disclosed why he accepted to deputize Peter Gregory Obi.
In a video report shared by BBC News Pidgin, he stated that he wanted to be at a place where he doesn’t have to pay delegates for him to be nominated for a political position.
He believes that he and Peter Obi shares the same ideologies, and they have both performed excellently well in the private sector as businessmen. He stressed that he and Peter Obi have the same stance on corruption, and he doesn’t have any record of corruption.
When questioned about the chances of the Labour Party in the North, if the party could outshine other parties in the North with several candidates already coming out to contest from the North, he stated that the next general election isn’t about where the candidate comes from, it’s all about competency and who can rescue Nigeria.
He pleaded with Nigerians not to refer to him as a Muslim or a politician from the Northwest, but as a businessman who is on a mission to rescue Nigeria and also as a Nigerian suffering like every other Nigerian.
