The Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, says the 2023 general elections would determine if the country will break up or not.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Saturday, Baba-Ahmed said the forthcoming elections would be the most decisive since the country returned to democratic rule in 1999.

He said the 2023 elections would show if Nigerians have decided to reverse the journey to destruction or would sink towards destruction.

Baba-Ahmed added that Nigerians would decide the fate of the country at the polls next year, asking the citizens to register and vote.

He wrote, “2023 elections are the most decisive since 1999. They will show whether we have decided to reverse the journey to destruction, or we will sink irretrievably towards destruction. Will you be part of those who will decide, or will you watch others do it? Register and vote. Seven days left.”

Meanwhile, the Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity in Nigeria has berated the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

The centre said the choice of former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima as the APC vice presidential candidate is a clear indication that Boko Haram and ISWAP would resume their activities of abducting children from schools.

According to the centre, over 200 Chibok School girls were abducted under Shettima’s watch during his tenure and they have not been found till date.

Naija News reports that the centre made this known in a statement on Saturday by its Director-General, Rev. Kallamu Dikwa.
