Plans are in top gear by a Peter Obi support group, Associates of Peter Obi (APO 2023) to stage a five million-man march in support of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

Addressing a strategic meeting of the group in Umunachi, Dunukofia local council area on Tuesday evening, one of the leaders, Hon. Goddy Eze said he has the authority of another leader, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna to assure Mr Obi’s victory in the forthcoming election.

According to Eze, there is every indication that Obi will emerge victorious come 2023 given the content of his message and the followership.

Eze who was Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia local council when Obi was Governor of Anambra State said that Obi never embarked on a failed venture and gave the background of his contest in the governorship election in 2003.

He said all hands must be on deck to deliver Obi and regretted that the Anambra people haven’t shown as much enthusiasm as expected given the efforts made by citizens of other states in Nigeria to drum support for Obi.

It is part of the reason why five million-march is being planned in the nearest future.

Prof. Okunna who couldn’t attend physically sent her messages of encouragement and goodwill to the gathering.

Okunna, the first female of Mass Communication in sub-Saharan Africa was Commissioner and Chief of Protocols when Obi was Governor.

Hon. Cosmas Okafor Coordinator of the group who hosted the meeting said everything possible should be done not only to mobilize but ginger the people into action.

Okafor said Peter Obi’s ambition is a challenge to Nigeria in general because everyone wants a positive change from the present mess Nigeria has found itself.

Also, Bar. C. C. Ozumba who is part of the 32-member national committee of Peter Obi’s support group said the task of the group is to give Obi 98 per cent of the votes from the South-East.

He said he has volunteered to contribute time, money and efforts to actualise Peter Obi’s Presidency.

Among those who attended the meeting were: Hon. Abuchi Egbo, Hon. Maduka Anusi, Hon. Ifeanyi Onwubualili, Chief Okalia  Cy, Emeka Anika, Francis Udedibia, Ms Chinenye Okoye among others. (Daily Independent)
