The Spokesman for Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko, has said that Labour Party is waiting to hear from their legal team following the meeting they had with the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), professor Mahmood Yakubu.

Earlier today, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu who is the head of Obi’s legal team led over 60 lawyers into the meeting which was held at the commission’s national headquarters

Recall that Labour Party had threatened to mobilize their supporters to occupy INEC offices across the 36 States after the electoral umpire repeatedly failed to make the electoral materials used in February 25 controversial presidential election available for inspection.

While speaking over the development, Tanko said that the party is waiting to hear the responses of the party’s legal team.

According to him, it is the legal team that will give a marching order to their supporters if they are not satisfied with INEC responses to their demands.

While speaking over the development, Tanko said that the party is waiting to hear the responses of the party’s legal team.

According to him, it is the legal team that will give a marching order to their supporters if they are not satisfied with INEC responses to their demands.

He said, “Remember we made a press conference citing that we will not fail to mobilise our members to come out to march on the streets of INEC and offices of INEC nationwide.

“And graciously the chairman of INEC haven read that particular statement has granted this opportunity to come into his office and liaise with him and he has assured the team of lawyers that they are going to present these documents.

“So we want to wait and see the responses of our legal team. It is the legal team that will give us the marching order. When they are satisfied with what they’ve received from INEC so that our members nationwide and worldwide will be satisfied that we are doing our job and they are ready to prosecute this case accordingly.”
