Peter Mba’s desperation is so appalling. In the beginning, he lobbied with a lot of money, went to Aso Rock and took pictures with Buhari. Then he thought he could intimidate Enugu voters. His supporters started bragging that Buhari endorsed him. We did not have any problem with that. Before the presidential election, he flooded Enugu metropolis with billboards of himself, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Chimaroke Nnamani. It is without dispute that no candidate for any election in the history of Nigerian politics has erected as many billboards. Even as campaign is about to end, Mba is still hurriedly erecting pink billboards in a decidedly absurd and futile attempt to woo Obidients.

After the presidential election, Mba started distancing himself from Ugwuanyi. You should not forget that in his campaign before this time, he had vowed to continue Ugwuanyi’s policies and style of leadership. There were many billboards affirming that around the state. He rushed again to Sullivan Chime of APC for endorsement. Before the failed involvement of Sullivan, a faction of Enugu APC led by the loose-talking Ben Nwoye had endorsed Mba as the APC candidate. Wow, this desperation is frightful!

He has now bribed some faceless and irresponsible people who said that they are members of the Obidident movement to carry up placards, with a chieftain of the APC in front of the small and shying gathering organizing the fraud. It is on record that Chimaroke Nnamani, Mba’s godfather, was the most out-and-out and bitter opposer of Peter Obi and the Obidient movement. When Chimaroke was attacking Obi and his supporters on twitter, Mba was enjoying it. It was good politics then. During the presidential election, Mba was urging his supporters openly and categorically to vote for Atiku. The decision was his own.

I had decided to just campaign for Chijioke Edeoga of Labour Party and pretend as if no other candidate exists. But why is Mba so desperate and thinks everybody is a fool? I was looking at his manifesto the other day and laughing at the sheer desperation. He promised to, in few months, grow Enugu economy from 3 billon dollars to 30 billion dollars. He did not say how he would do it. Even the magicians who were housed in pharaoh’s Court would find such a feat a little staggering. But wait for it; he again promised to harness “Enugu’s waterways.” I have been looking around since then to see the large bodies of water we have in the state. Mba promised to construct 10, 000 kilometers of road in the state. Going by our land mass, we will need to borrow, buy, or even steal land from Kogi and Benue states to have enough space for Mba’s roads.

His desperation is staggering and appalling. It is also very suspicious. But desperation, from centuries of lived civilized man’s experience, does not help anybody. The mistake Mba is making this time is thinking that members of the Obident movement are daft and buyable. This will backfire. The Obidient movement is membered with educated and patriotic young Nigerians who are desirous to take back their country. They have a political education that is rooted in long-fighting, fidelity to principle and loyalty. It is about a rejection of the old order and the old ways of doing things. Peter Obi is the centerpiece and leader of the movement. The platform through which the movement chase desired change is the Labour Party (LP). Every Obidient will vote for LP. It doesn’t matter how desperate Peter Mba will get in the coming hours and days.

.

Above everything else, Obidients obey Peter Obi, the man whose public virtues inspired the movement. For the Enugu governorship election coming up on Saturday, Peter Obi has repeatedly said that Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party is his candidate. Obidients will vote for LP and for Edeoga come 18th, and for all Labour Party candidates for the state house of assembly.

.

Mba should be man enough and stay with Atiku, Ugwuanyi, Chimaroke, Buhari and the PDP. We are not dragging his godfathers with him. His desperation surpasses belief. And you should be worried.
