The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has visited Onitsha central mosque to celebrate Eid el Fitr with the Muslim community.

Obi who was a former governor of the state during the visit recounted how he rebuilded the central mosque when it was burnt down during 2006 crisis in the State.

He said, “Today at Central Mosque, Onitsha, I joined the Muslim Community in Anambra State to celebrate and share in the joys of Eid el Fitr. I am grateful for the fraternal and convivial moments we spent, especially for their kind words and prayers for a New Nigeria.

“Happily, they recounted how I, as the then Governor of Anambra State, rebuilt their Mosque when it was burnt down, and provided maximum security for them during crisis that erupted in the State in 2006. Since then, I have remained supportive to the Community and maintained close relationship with them.

“I have always maintained that every Nigerian should be free to live and thrive freely in any part of the nation. I presented my own gift items to them and shared in their prayers for the Obidient movement and for New Nigeria. -PO”
