The former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms. Catriona Laing, has expressed disappointment with the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) over the recently-held 2023 general election.

Ms. Laing made the assertion in a short video clip posted on Twitter by News Band on Tuesday, which is a deviation from her previous statement.

In the earlier statement, she told Nigerians to be proud of the 2023 election, giving it her pass mark.

In the latest video clip, Laing retracted her opinion and expresses disappointment with INEC and reiterated her government’s threat to slam visa ban and/or other punitive measures on electoral offenders.

After the backlash public outcry, she seemed to have walked back her condescending and hasty endorsement of the election which has been adjudged by both local and international observers as poorly executed.
