The spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo has said, Peter Gregory Obi, won more states than was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said this during an interview on News Central TV’s ‘Politics HQ’ on Thursday 4th May 2023.

Okonkwo stated that based on the results found on the INEC Results Viewing portal (IReV), Obi won in more states than any of his closest rivals.

According to him, after a closer look at the result sheets uploaded from states like Rivers, Benue, and Plateau, it was clear that the Labour Party not only won in those areas but did so with very wide margins.

He said, “We do not have any problem with our party structure. The problem we have is the violation of our privacy by men and women who have been bought by a ruling party that is feeling threatened by our petition in court, to destabilize us from reclaiming our mandate. We have no issues with structure because no party won more states in the last presidential election than us. Our mandate was stolen.

Based on the results we have seen on IREV, in Rivers, Plateau, and Benue, our votes were swapped. We won the FCT, and none of the others got 25%, and we also won in Lagos. These two places (Lagos and FCT) are known as the Commercial capital and Federal capital. This, therefore, means that we are the ‘First Force’ in Nigeria.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

According to INEC, Tinubu secured 8,794,726 votes, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar had 6,984,520, while the Labour Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, polled 6,101,533.

The PDP and LP candidates have rejected the result. Both parties have approached the tribunal with separate petitions to challenge Tinubu’s victory.

They alleged that Tinubu was not qualified to contest the election and that he failed to secure the majority of lawful votes cast at the poll.
