The Attorney General of the Federation and the Chief of Army Staff are likely to be put to prison on Thursday, 11th May, 2023, for failing to obey court orders as the Federal High Court delivers its Ruling for committal!

Today, the 8th day of May, 2023, the Honorable, the Presiding Judge of Court No. 9, of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja, Coram: Honorable Justice Obiora Egwuatu has heard application on contempt proceedings (as moved by the Applicant’s Counsel ‘Hameed Ajibola Jimoh Esq.’ to commit the Attorney General of the Federation and the Chief of Army Staff to prison and to issue a writ of commitment against the duo for failing to obey the orders of the Court made on the 21st February, 2023, vis-a-vis: Releasing the Applicant in a fundamental rights enforcement suit by name ‘Suleiman Hussein Liman’ forthwith and to apologize to the Applicant in 2 widely circulated national newspapers!

The Honourable, the Presiding Judge has now adjourned the contempt proceedings hearing to the 11th May, 2023, for Ruling on the application for their committal respectively!

Should the application succeed, the Attorney General of the Federation and the Chief of Army Staff shall be committed to prison as may be ordered by the Court!
