The Federal Government of Nigeria in Austria has embarrassingly lost a court case in Vienna.
The Nigerian community in Austria is reportedly embarrassed and in shock when they learnt that Ambassador S. D. Umar, had forced a staff of the embassy to resign without any reason.
Following the illegal removal from office, the aggrieved staff took Nigerian authorities in Vienna to court.
The aggrieved staff who said he served the embassy meritoriously for 15 years accused the ambassador of using his position to threaten and bully him.
He also revealed that Umar forced him to write and sign his own resignation letter which he did.
The aggrieved staff who doesn’t want his name on print said he had no other option because Umar would have unceremoniously dismissed him, a situation he would not have liked to happen for the sake of his integrity.
He said it wasn’t his wish to leave the embassy and he had nowhere to run to for justice. So, he decided to take the embassy to court to seek redress.
However, the court in a landmark judgement, faulted the action of ambassador Umar. It also awarded monetary compensation amounting to millions of euro to the aggrieved staff.
News Band also gathered that there is another court case against the Nigerian embassy in Vienna.
The case was instituted by yet one of the embassy staff who had served the Nigerian Embassy in Vienna for more than 22 years claiming equally that she had been forced to resign by Ambassador S. D. Umar.
In another development, a former staff of the embassy that equally resigned from her post claimed during conversation with this paper that she had been badly treated by Ambassador Umar.
She also raised the issue of a legal action against the Nigerian Embassy if her rights of compensation were not fully granted.
Ambassador Umar has been accused by many of painting the image of Nigeria in Austria in bad light following his nefarious actions at the embassy.
