Former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has accused the immediate-past President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, of benefitting from the proceeds of crime perpetrated by the former Presiding Court of Appeals President, Zainab Bulkachuwa, and her spouse, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa.
Dr. Ezekwesili made the accusation in a tweet on her Twitter handle, @obyezeks, on Wednesday.
News Band had reported that Senator Bulkachuwa, in a trending video gone viral, confessed that he influenced her wife while she was the appeal court president, to give judgement in favour of his politician friends in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bulkachuwa said: “I must thank my wife, whose freedom and independence I encroached upon while she was in office. She has been very tolerant, accepted my encroachment, and extended her help to my colleagues.”
According to Ezekwesili, however, taking into cognizance the way Lawan frantically tried to gag him from revealing more, he (Lawan) “was one of the Beneficiaries of the “encroachment of a Presiding Court of Appeals President” by her Senator-Spouse”.
She tweeted:
“It was obvious from what happened during the Confessions of Corrupted Democracy in the @SenateNGR chambers that @DrAhmadLawan was one of the Beneficiaries of the “encroachment of a Presiding Court of Appeals President” by her Senator-Spouse.
“It was evidently that perversion of Justice that made the Judiciary install him as a Senator without contesting in the Senatorial Primaries.
“Folks like him think they can game the system forever. Na LIE! One Day go be One Day for this country.”

“Senator @DrAhmadLawan frantically tried to gag him from revealing more, the Confessing Senator replied, “Alright, since you don’t want me to talk, I will keep quiet. We know ourselves”. His confession may be a protest that Lawan & Party did not reciprocate his help. Kai.”
In the meantime, News Band had earlier reported that Ezekwesili had also asked the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to investigation all election cases by the former Appeal Court President
Callling on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to investigate, the Former Minister of Education said:
“The Nigerian Judiciary and a corrupted political class are steadily confirming how they trade our Democracy. What was that Senator saying in the Senate Chamber again? The outgone Senate President @DrAhmadLawan should be ashamed of himself for covering up confession of crime.
“The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court should immediately institute investigation of all election cases that came before the former President of Appeal Court , the wife of the confessing Senator that compromised her if there’s any honor left in the Judiciary of this country.”
