Nigerian military in a discreet operation said it has eliminated scores of terrorists in Sokoto State.

This was disclosed in a statement made by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations.

According to Onyema, the troops during mop up operations recovered three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 2 Rocket propelled Gun Bombs and 9 motorcycles.

Part of the statement reads, “In a discreet operation against marauding terrorists in Sokoto state, troops of 8 Division Garrison today Tuesday 24 October 2023, launched a carefully planned offensive operation into Tukandu Village, targeting a notorious group of terrorists, responsible for various atrocious and heinous activities in the general area.

“The troops’ fierce onslaught terminated many of the terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds. In the following mop up operations, troops recovered three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 2 Rocket propelled Gun Bombs and 9 motorcycles.

“The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has lauded the troops, charging them to remain resolute and continue to escalate their operations against the terrorists to decimate and deny them the freedom of action.”
