Vice President Kashim Shettima advocates for a non-kinetic approach to resolve insecurity in the South East, expressing this viewpoint during a meeting with a delegation from the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P) led by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Under the auspices of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P), the delegation visited Shettima to present the initiative and invited him to launch the project that proposes a non-kinetic solution to the crisis in the South East.

The initiative proposes non-kinetic solutions to the crisis in the region, focusing on negotiation and dialogue. Shettima emphasizes the need for a peaceful resolution to prevent an endless war of attrition and suggests building bridges and engaging with the youth as essential steps.

“It is how you build bridges that will determine how far you go as a people and society. We have to reach out to the youths; we have to empower them. Once we empower them, the crisis, the agitation and insecurity will vanish”.

Deputy Speaker Kalu echoes the call for a non-kinetic approach, expressing optimism that the PISE-P initiative could bring positive change to the region, acknowledging the necessity for new solutions in addressing security challenges.

He said: “We understand that many zones in the country face similar security challenges. “However, PISE-P proposes a non-kinetic approach to address these issues that have impacted the economy of the South East and Nigeria.”
