NN News Media reports that Tinubu disclosed this in a recent address at 64th ordinary session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of good governance in securing popular support and fostering socio-economic development in West Africa.

He highlighted that providing good governance addresses the root causes of military interventions, tackling issues like poverty and inequality.

Tinubu urged West African leaders to prioritize collective prosperity to prevent authoritarian takeovers and unconstitutional changes of government.

The President outlined measures against member states opting for such changes and emphasized the need for realistic transition plans to restore democracy in countries under military rule.

He called for support in achieving these goals and commended Liberia’s President George Weah for conceding victory and promoting democratic ideals. Tinubu also praised former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan for a similar commitment to democracy in 2015.
