Minister Abubakar Badaru disclosed the Ministry of Defence’s comprehensive strategy to combat insurgency and terrorism, utilizing the 2023 supplementary budget and a portion of the 2024 budget.

In a joint sitting with parliamentary committees on defence, Badaru emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to preventing the spread of terrorism and commended the National Assembly for its consistent support.

He urged an upward revision of the 2024 budget’s overhead costs due to inflation and rising diesel prices.

Senate Committee Chairman Sen. Ahmad Lawan stressed the need for diligent scrutiny of the 2024 proposal, emphasizing the importance of tangible outcomes and effective resource utilization in the fight against insecurity.

Lawmakers pledged ongoing efforts to invest in security for the nation’s growth and development.
