The Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled in favor of Tukur Mamu, the former terrorist negotiator and cleric, allowing him access to his personal doctor.

Mamu, currently facing trial for his alleged involvement in the terror attack on a Kaduna-Abuja train last year, sought medical attention due to deteriorating health conditions.

He is accused of receiving $120,000 in ransom payments for Boko Haram terrorists, linked to the train attack that resulted in eight fatalities and numerous abductions.

The trial, conducted in secret at the request of the Department of State Services to safeguard prosecution witnesses, revealed Mamu’s plea for medical intervention through a Motion on Notice (FHC/ABJ/CR/96/2023).

Despite the Federal Government’s opposition, arguing the availability of medical facilities within the DSS, Justice Inyang Ekwo granted Mamu permission to be treated by his personal physician under the supervision of the DSS medical team.

The court adjourned the case until February 26 for the continuation of the trial.
