In a decisive move, President Bola Tinubu has reinstated the school feeding programme, previously halted by the administration of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

The directive, issued by President Tinubu, aims to address the pressing issue of out-of-school children and combat the learning crisis prevalent in the nation.

President Tinubu emphasized the critical role of addressing the learning crisis, asserting that failure to do so would impede efforts to tackle the challenges faced by out-of-school children.

The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, revealed this development during a one-day retreat focusing on swift accomplishments in ministerial deliverables from 2023 to 2027.

Under Tinubu’s directive, the school feeding programme is set to be transferred from the Ministry of Humanitarian to the Ministry of Education. This strategic realignment aligns with the government’s commitment to efficiently implement policies designed to overcome the obstacles associated with out-of-school children.

The retreat served as a platform to deliberate on effective ways to implement these policies and allocate responsibilities to various agencies dedicated to addressing the out-of-school children problem.
