In a startling revelation, Rivers Elders’ Forum member David Briggs alleges that President Bola Tinubu threatened Governor Siminalayi Fubara, compelling him to sign a resolution during a meeting at the Presidential Villa.

Briggs claims that the President, asserting his authority, warned of making Rivers State ungovernable if Fubara refused to comply.

During the meeting, Tinubu instructed the withdrawal of all court cases related to the state’s political crisis initiated by the governor’s team.

According to Briggs, the resolution was handed to Dr. Peter Odili to read, emphasizing the President’s subtle but energetic threat.

Briggs highlights the undemocratic nature of the proceedings and the shock expressed by attendees, including former Attorney-General Adokiye Amiesimaka.

Despite the pressure, Briggs commends Governor Fubara for displaying maturity during the meeting.

He speculates on potential plans to induce Fubara’s defection to the APC and suggests that Tinubu’s actions aimed at serving his party’s interests while mediating peace in Rivers State.

The former commissioner underscores the governor’s intelligence and commitment to governance in navigating the challenging political landscape.
