he Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) strongly condemns the recent attack in Plateau State, expressing deep concern about the escalating insecurity in the region.

In a press release issued by Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, the forum mourned the tragic loss of over 100 lives in the attack and extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.

The statement highlighted the gruesome impact on lives and property, drawing parallels with recent incidents in Kaduna and Zamfara states.

ACF called for the government to declare a state of emergency in security for vulnerable and banditry-prone communities. It urged comprehensive early-warning and early-response strategies with active community involvement. The forum emphasized the importance of intelligence efforts by security agencies and called for the identification, arrest, and prosecution of perpetrators and their enablers.

The statement stressed the need for containment and elimination strategies against banditry, terrorism, farmer-herder clashes, and senseless killings. ACF advocated for immediate relief and compensation for victims while urging the government to empower community leaders, elders, clergy, and traditional leaders for community dialogues on conflict resolution.

For Plateau State, ACF specifically called on elders, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and others to intensify conflict resolution efforts. The forum appealed to citizens to provide security agencies with credible information on insurgent activities, emphasizing the importance of avoiding glorification of terrorists with ethno-religious labels.

As ACF stands firm on its position that every incident of insecurity is one too many, the call to action is clear: urgent and comprehensive measures to secure Arewa communities and beyond.
