The Kano State Police have made significant strides in their pursuit of justice, arresting a quack doctor and a notorious thug involved in shocking and sensitive cases.
Issa Chidera Ugwu, a 24-year-old quack doctor, has been arrested for administering injections that lead to a 19-year-old Amina Bala death with the intent to abort her unborn child. Amina was impregnated by her brother, Muhammad, leading to the arrest of Issa in connection with the sensitive case.
The duo Chidera and will be charged for highly sensitive homicide cases that have shocked the Kano community.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel, revealed that the duo will face charges related to highly sensitive homicide cases that have deeply affected the Kano community.
CP Gumel said: “On December 20, 2023, a report was received from one Nura Balarabe, of Tofa Local Government Area, Kano, that one Ukasha Muhammed, aged 19 years, of Langel Village Tofa Local Government Area, Kano, impregnated his sister, Amina Bala, aged 19 years, of Kwanar Mahuwa Tofa Local Government Area, Kano.
“The said Ukasha Muhammad conspired with one Issa Chidera Ugwu, aged 24 years, of Lanbum Banki Tofa Local Government Area, Kano, and administered injections and drugs to the said Amina Balarabe with intent to cause miscarriage which resulted in her death.
The suspects were arrested and confessed to the crime. Investigations revealed that the said Issa Chidera Ugwu has allegedly been administering fatal injections to pregnant women, leading to tragic consequences.
According to CP Gumel, the quack doctor administered fatal injections to pregnant women, resulting in tragic consequences. The arrest of Issa Chidera Ugwu signifies a breakthrough in the police’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the lives and well-being of Kano residents.
In a separate incident, the police arrested Yusuf Haruna AKA Lagwatsani (18), a notorious thug responsible for the senseless murder of a respected Imam. Yusuf attacked and fatally stabbed Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu (45) while he was performing ablution near a mosque. The motive behind the attack was the victim’s warning to Yusuf and his gang to stop smoking Indian hemp around the mosque premises.
CP Gumel emphasized that the police are determined to end the reign of thuggery in Kano. Additionally, 12 drummers and singers known for promoting thuggery through indecent music have voluntarily surrendered to the police, signaling a positive step in the ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order in Kano State.
The police commissioner acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Kano community and urged more individuals to come forward with information that can lead to the voluntary surrender of those involved in criminal activities. CP Gumel assured that the police would provide support and guidance for rehabilitation and reintegration into society for those who choose to surrender.
