In the recently passed 2024 Appropriation Bill, substantial sums have been designated for various projects within the National Assembly, totaling N3 billion each for the construction of car parks in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Additionally, a noteworthy N4 billion has been earmarked for the development of a ‘Recreation Center’ at the National Assembly.

A comprehensive breakdown of the budgetary allocation reveals that a significant portion, amounting to N127.8 billion, has been set aside for Senators and members of the House of Representatives.

The Senate is allocated N49.144 billion, while the House of Representatives receives N78.624 billion. Furthermore, legislative aides supporting lawmakers in both chambers are granted a sum of N20.388 billion.

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) secures a budget allocation of N12.325 billion, while the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) is allocated N9.1 billion.

In a move to enhance legislative resources, the newly constructed National Assembly Library Complex is granted N12.123 billion as a take-off grant, with an additional N3 billion earmarked for the procurement of books for the library. Meanwhile, the National Assembly Hospital project is allocated a substantial N15 billion.

To further strengthen infrastructure, N4.5 billion is allocated for the completion of the NILDS headquarters, and the ongoing construction of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) building receives a notable N10 billion. These allocations underscore the commitment to advancing facilities and services within the National Assembly, promoting an environment conducive to effective legislative processes.
