Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his wife Margaret Obi bid farewell to late Senator Annie Okonkwo, who died in the United States on June 8, was buried at Ojoto, Idemili North Local Government of Anambra on Wednesday.

According to Obi via his verified X handle said, yesterday, my dear wife, Margaret, and I joined many other respected Nigerians like the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Charles Soludo, Governor Alex Otti, distinguished senators, political leaders, ambassadors, captains of industries, and Nigerians from all walks of life, at the burial of the late distinguished Senator Annie Okonkwo, in Ojoto, Anambra State, having also participated in his Vigil Mass the previous day. We were there to pay our last respects to a great patriot and distinguished legislator.

Sen. Annie Okonkwo lived a simple life of humility, love, and peace. He was a bridge builder who desired peace, peaceful coexistence, and progress in society. He contributed immensely to building the society by helping many people to success, especially the less privileged.

He was deeply patriotic, both as a businessman, and a political leader. Senator Okonkwo’s highly entrepreneurial spirit and political sagacity will be greatly missed in the country today, especially as we embark on the mission of moving the economy from consumption to production.

On behalf of my family, once again, I condole his immediate family, and all of us, who mourn him. May God Almighty, who it pleased to call him home at this time, grant him eternal rest, and grant his family, and all of us, the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss. –PO
