In a bold joint operation with the military, the Imo State Police obliterated camps belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at Ihite Owerri, Orlu LGA.

Police spokesman Henry Okoye disclosed that the mission resulted in the arrest of one suspect, while others managed to flee with gunshot wounds after a prolonged exchange of fire.

The operation was prompted by recent kidnapping cases, including those involving Mr. Sabinus Ugwuebu, a Road Safety Officer, and HRH Eze Ohiri, former Eze Imo.

In a statement, Okoye explained, “Police operatives, in robust synergy with the Military, stormed a suspected terrorist camp, apprehending one suspect. Efforts are underway to capture the remaining fugitives and potentially rescue the kidnapped victims, with plans to arraign them in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

Highlighting the commitment to eradicating crime, Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, affirmed that the command would persist in collaborating closely with the military and other relevant security agencies to eliminate all forms of criminal activities in the state.
