Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, declared an unwavering commitment to ensuring corrupt government officials find no refuge under his leadership.

The pledge was made during a meeting with Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s support for anti-graft activities, Olukoyede emphasized that no Nigerian, regardless of stature, would be immune to investigations for corruption allegations. He asserted, “There is no hiding place for the corrupt. We must give our best, be committed, and provide the President with the right support he needs.”

Addressing concerns about the perceived overlap between the EFCC and ICPC, Olukoyede stressed the enormity of the cases both agencies handle, justifying their independent existence. He acknowledged the limitations posed by staff strength and resources, emphasizing the need for collaboration to effectively combat corruption.

The ICPC boss, Musa Adamu Aliyu, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of a strong relationship between the two commissions. He expressed readiness to collaborate and partner with the EFCC, pointing to an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a foundation for cooperation. Aliyu hoped for regular meetings to review joint efforts and strengthen their collective fight against corruption.

The engagement between the EFCC and ICPC sends a powerful signal to the nation, showcasing a united front and a collaborative approach in tackling corruption. The commitment of both agencies reflects a shared vision to move the country forward in its anti-corruption endeavors.
