Renowned Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has voiced apprehension regarding the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar.
Amadi expressed his concerns, referring to those around Atiku as “straw men.” This comes in the wake of reports indicating a visit by PDP chieftain Daniel Bwala to President Bola Tinubu, a move that raised eyebrows within political circles.
Bwala, previously a vocal critic of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declared his commitment to supporting Tinubu’s administration during a closed-door meeting at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja. In response to Bwala’s unexpected stance, Amadi, visibly displeased, took to social media, offering a prayer for Atiku’s strength.
In his post, Amadi wrote, “May God strengthen you at this point, sir. It’s not easy to be surrounded by straw men.” The situation suggests a growing complexity within the political landscape as alliances and affiliations evolve in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
