President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their spirited performance in the final match of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Côte d’Ivoire.

Despite a narrow 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in a thrilling encounter on Sunday night, President Tinubu expressed his appreciation for the team’s resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu commended not only the players but also the coach, crew, and entire management team for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices that propelled them to the final stage.

Acknowledging the obstacles they overcame with each game, President Tinubu highlighted the team’s consistent improvement and performance leading up to the finals.

Encouraging Nigerians to maintain a positive outlook, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of the team’s achievement, stating, “We have achieved a significant victory in capturing the hearts of Africa and the world with our determination and resilience on the field of play.”

He went on to rally the nation, urging unity and collective effort in the face of challenges, stating, “Let this recent setback not discourage us, but instead, let it serve as a catalyst for us to redouble our efforts. We are a strong nation united under the banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and unwavering love.”

Addressing the youth of Nigeria, President Tinubu encouraged them to continue pursuing their dreams and aspirations, emphasizing the potential for future heroism. He reassured them of his administration’s commitment to supporting their endeavors and making their dreams a reality.
