Labour Party (LP) tackled the All-Progressives Congress (APC) government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as costs of food items, others pushed inflation to an 18-year high rise of 26.72 percent in September.

The party gave the reaction in a telephone interview with Vanguard on Monday through its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

He said that the NBS report, which pegged the national inflation rate of food prices and other items at 26.72 per cent, is simply a reflection of how badly the Tinubu administration has failed since taking over power on May 29, 2023.

“The truth is, you can’t give what you don’t have,” Ifoh said.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday stated that headline inflation rose to 26.7% in September as against 25.8% in August, while food inflation maintained its uptrend rising to 30.64% in September.

Released on a day the world marked World Food Day, the Labour Party described the soaring prices of food and other items as a verdict on Bola Tinubu’s reign, just as its presidential candidate in the last election, Peter Obi, lamented that a vast majority of Nigerians now spend their entire income on food, which is hardly enough.
