On Tuesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) disclosed the last of five document batches concerning Bola Ahmed Tinubu, revealing his ties to drug trafficking.

This included individuals such as Abiodun Agbele, Adegboyega Mueez Akande, and Lee Andrew Edwards.

The fourth installment of the #TinubuFiles, released on February 3, identified Tinubu as a beneficiary of drug proceeds. The fifth file, referenced by the FBI as Case No. 245-IP-71386-UUUUUU, exposed the links between these individuals.

In response to a Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request, the FBI revealed in its final release that Akande was the heroin supplier to Edwards. Tinubu’s name was redacted from the deal’s broker to absolve him of any association with drug-related offenses or activities in 2003.

These FBI documents represent the final response to a lawsuit filed by Aaron Greenspan, the founder of Plainsite.org, and David Hundeyin, the Editor-in-Chief of West Africa Weekly, under the Freedom Of Information Act.

Earlier releases identified the redacted name as a known associate of Akande, who is currently the president of Nigeria following a ruling by Nigeria’s supreme court.

It’s important to note that the involvement of the United States Justice Department was heavily redacted. This led to speculation about Tinubu potentially being a US intelligence asset after the FOIA release.
