In a series of engagements across different states, Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, emphasized the importance of serving the people and upholding accountability in governance.

Starting his journey from Tungan Madaki village in Abuja, where he fulfilled a promise made during the 2024 World Sick Week, Obi then headed to Owerri, the capital of Imo State. From there, he traveled to Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa, Abia State, accompanied by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to attend the Thanksgiving Service of Hon Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, the federal House of Representatives member representing Isiala Ngwa South/Isiala Ngwa North.

During the event, amidst celebrating Hon Ginger’s electoral victory, Obi stressed the divine source of political power and urged leaders to utilize it for the betterment of society. He encouraged Hon Ginger to prioritize the welfare of the people and ensure transparency and efficiency in governance, particularly in legislative matters and fiscal management.

Moving on from Abia State, Obi visited Enugu State to join the birthday celebrations of Engr Chris Okoye and his wife, Prof Ifeoma Okoye, marking their 72nd and 70th birthdays respectively. He commended their significant contributions to societal welfare and national progress. While Engr Chris was praised for his steadfast commitment to righteousness, Prof Ifeoma’s pioneering work in medical research, particularly in the field of cancer, was acknowledged.

Obi concluded by extending prayers for the continued health and prosperity of the Okoyes, highlighting their ongoing dedication to serving humanity.

In each engagement, Obi reiterated the fundamental principles of governance—service, accountability, and dedication to the common good—emphasizing the need for political leaders to embody these values in their actions and decisions.
