Nigeria witnessed a surge in violence under the President Bola Tinubu, with 812 fatalities and 855 abductions reported.

Accoding to Beacon Security and Intelligence Limited, a group responsible for tracking and analyzing crime and violent occurrences in Nigeria, reported a significant increase in crime across the country.

In March 2024 alone, 812 people were killed, 855 citizens were abducted, and 770 incidents were recorded, representing a 4.19% increase from February 2024.

Beacon Intel, said that the number of abductions increased by 23.51%, with 855 people abducted in March 2024 compared to 654 in February 2024. This trend highlights the growing risk faced by individuals and communities, with abduction being a prevalent tactic employed by various armed groups for various purposes.

The report also reveals a concerning increase in fatalities, with 8.71% more deaths recorded in March 2024 than in February 2024. The group emphasizes the urgent need for effective measures to protect civilian lives, as the human toll of escalating violence continues to rise.

Beacon Intel attributes these trends to ongoing terrorism, banditry, and ethnic militia activities, which underscore the complex nature of the security challenges facing Nigeria. Despite robust security operations, these threat elements often operate with impunity, exploiting existing grievances, ethnic tensions, and socio-economic disparities to advance their objectives through violent means.

The report highlights the need for urgent intervention to address the rising crime wave in Nigeria and protect the lives of its citizens.
