Justice Eberechi Wike, spouse of the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, Nyesom Wike, has promoted to the Court of Appeal.

This advancement is the result of a stringent selection procedure, with only 22 out of 89 candidates being selected to occupy the vacant positions.

The promotion received the green light from Nigeria’s Chief Justice, Justice Kayode Ariwoola, on April 2, 2024, and is now awaiting President Tinubu’s approval.

The newly appointed justices, showcasing a wide array of judges hailing from different states and federal high courts across all six geopolitical zones.

Representing the North-Central region are Justices Polycarp Tema Kwahar, Ruqayat Ayoola, Eneche Eleojo, Asmara Akanbi Yusuf, Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, and Abdu Dogo.

The North-East region is represented solely by Justice Fadahu Umaru of Borno State.

For the North-West region, Justices Ishaq Mohammed Sani, Zainab Bage Abubakar, and Abdulaziz M. Ankara have been appointed.

Meanwhile, the South-East region witnessed the elevation of Justices Nnamdi Okwy Dimga Victoria, Toochukwu Nwoye, Henry Aja-Onu Njoku, Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo, and Ngozika N Okaisabor.

From the South-South region, Justices Ntong Festus Ntong, Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi, and Eberechi Suzette Wike have been put forward for promotion.

Finally, the South-West region welcomed the appointment of Justices Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo, Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi, Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola, and Bayo Ademola Taiwo.
