Akin Osuntokun, the Director General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, has raised concerns over a state-sponsored media campaign aimed at discrediting Peter Obi, the LP’s presidential candidate in 2023 election.

In a statement released from his X handle, Osuntokun accused political jobbers of being hired and paid to tarnish Obi’s reputation through this extensive media campaign.

The Labour Party’s campaign director expressed his disappointment over the use of state resources to undermine the credibility of a political opponent. He emphasized the importance of fair and transparent political discourse, free from state-sponsored propaganda and character assassination.

Osuntokun’s statement serves as a reminder of the need for a level playing field in the political arena, where candidates are judged based on their policies and qualifications rather than character attacks.

The Labour Party remains committed to promoting a positive and constructive political environment and will continue to focus on its campaign message of hope, unity, and progress for all Nigerians.
