Vice President Kashim Shettima, originally slated to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas, will not be attending due to an unforeseen technical issue with his aircraft.
This incident necessitated a detour on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet.
According to a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Communications (Office of The Vice President), Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, will now stand in for President Tinubu at the summit. Despite this setback, the Vice President remains committed to fulfilling his other national duties.
Scheduled to be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre, the high-profile summit will bring together political and business leaders from across Africa, the United States, and beyond. The event will feature substantive dialogues, networking opportunities, and plenary sessions.
Among the notable African leaders expected to attend are President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, President Joao Lourenço of Angola, President Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi of Botswana, President José Maria Neves of Cape Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara of Lesotho.
The US-Africa Business Summit aims to facilitate economic cooperation and explore investment prospects between the United States and African nations.
