Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, recently reaffirmed his commitment to societal development through strategic investments in education and healthcare.

In a statement shared via his X handle, Obi announced a significant contribution of N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, St Joseph Hospital Adazi-Nnukwu, aimed at enhancing the training of nurses.

The College, renowned for its long-standing history and excellence in producing qualified nurses and midwives, has played a crucial role in strengthening Nigeria’s health sector and human infrastructure. Obi emphasized his unwavering dedication to advocating for increased investment in critical sectors such as education and health, particularly for the training of healthcare professionals.

Highlighting the global concern over the looming shortage of healthcare workers, especially nurses, Obi stressed the importance of such investments. By supporting the education and training of nurses, Nigeria can not only address its own healthcare needs but also contribute to mitigating the global shortfall of healthcare professionals.

Expressing gratitude to the College’s proprietor, management, and staff, Obi acknowledged their relentless dedication and hard work. He also addressed the student nurses, reminding them of the noble and fulfilling nature of their profession. He encouraged them to persevere in their studies and professional endeavors, emphasizing that their efforts are vital in the collective mission to build a New Nigeria.
